The P-value is basically the probability of an experiment occuring due to chance. So for example, if your P-value was 0.03 then this means that there was simply a 3% chance that the result occured due to CHANCE, and NOT the independent variable. ALSO note that in psychology, a p value of 0.05 or less (written as P<0.05) means that the experiment is statistically significant, meaning you can draw conclusions from it. Anything greater than 0.05 is not statistically significant and is too high due to chance to be able to draw conclusions from.

It is pretty much the probability that the null hypothesis is true. Generally it means that if there is a p value of 0.05, there is a 5% chance that it is actually wrong. It could also mean that there is a 5% chance that a result is not influenced by the variable itself, and hence a 5% chance that that particular variable is not significant to the result. Essentially it does make it harder to reject a null hypothesis, but the reason for that is because we generally like to place the burden of proof on whatever is challenging it.

I'm assuming anything you do will be in reference to the 5% significance level?

I'm not sure whether F-Stats/test statistics etc are dealt with in Psych, but if they are feel free to ask and I can perhaps relate them.

That's the only sentence you'll ever need regarding the p-value.
