ctrl + -
is derivative

ctrl + +
is integral sign

It's actually CAPS and - for derivative and CAPS and + for the integral, not ctrl.

sorry. just realised that now too.

Ok now updated to Version 1.5, fixed any errors. The following additions have been made:
1. Added steps for maximum, minimum, tangents and normals
2. Added Integrals for Probability
3. Added shortcut keys.

The link to the printable version is still the old one. I'm going to see if I can get a mod to help update it.

Hey, you know the CD that comes with the calculator? Yea... I've installed it a while ago and now it wants me to activate it again.. and it won't let me :|.... Doesn't the CD gives you free Student Software like forever? or is it just a trial? Is there an alternative way to updating the software? :(

I use TI Computer Link to update the calc (got it off the TI website).

The student software is mainly an emulator kind of thing. The one that came with my calculator was a trial (your school might have an activation key for it though). If you want that, just use Wolfram Alpha or Microsoft Math.

I'm not sure about the student software, I went to install it the other day, just to realise I don't know where my key for it is. I've got the computer link installed though, and thats how I got the screenshots. I jsut had to have the Ti-nspier plugged in while I was making the documents. Sorry that I couldn't help.

EDIT: Seen laseredd's post.

Hey, I have problems with finding the exact values when graphing. I quite dont understand when u say press menu 5-1 to trace and go between 0.9-1.2 and the "press the button' I dont know what to do there :s

Press right until you are around those values, the reason I picked those values is so that the coordinates that show up are far enough away from the axis so that they don't overlap, you can probably pick nearly any value. From there you need to clip on the x-coordinate, it should highlight with a greyish background. Now move the cursor slightly to the right until you get the cursor that looks like it is going to type (the vertical line with a horizontal line at the top and bottom) then click and enter an exact value in the coordinate.

I think I might have explained that a bit too much but oh well, hope it helps.

This is a tad off topic, but i asked the Texas Instruments Customer service if they could send me a new key as I didnt have the one included with the calculator, or the computer link software to update my CAS, and they sent me a new key. I had to email them a picture of my calculator with the serial number easily visible.

On Topic: Nice work with the guide. I think you should add:

You can sketch functions such as {x^2+y^2=1,(x,y)} by typing into the graphing screen
zeros(x^2+y^2-1,y)

it might be helpful for sketching weird graphs where they swap x and y or something.

:o That is amazing! I've wanted to know how to do that for ages! Had to keep transposing instead...
b^3, put it in the spesh one. It's really useful for sketching hyperbolas and ellipses as well. :)

This is one of the best features on the caclulator, I can't believe we've missed it up until now. I'm going to add it to the specialist guide, so I'll have to re-up the pdf and talk to a mod about getting the old one removed.

I'm trying to work out how to apply it to 3d functions, so if you guys work out how to graph (x2+(9/4)y2+z2-1)3-x2z3-(9/80)y2z3=0 for -3 <=x,y,z<=3 Let me know.

If you have a graph, you can also use the "Analyse Graph" menu to find out xints, maximums and minimums. Also quite helpful.

Yeh I included the max and mins from the anaylse graph, I didn't include the x-intercepts since it's partly obvious and easy to do.
