Hello
How would you guys go about answering that question on the vcaa sample - it's 15 marks worth..

I probably would define a phobia - an irrational/persistent fear towards a object that causes avoidance behaviour and interferes with daily life bla bla.. name one..

And i'd explain the role of the CS, UCS and CR in causing the NS to become a phobia - i'd probably use the UCS of a specific environmental trigger?
And i'd also explain operant conditioning: negative reinforcement in maintaining the fear as by avoiding it

And do you guys think 'maintainance' also has to do with managing the phobia? So maybe add one or two psychotherapies?

Would that earn 15? o.0 anything else to add for 15 marks?

When they ask you about classical and operant in SHORT ANSWERS, you definitely don't have to refer to management of phobias. Although it does seem like the answer would be a bit bare without it. For all I know you could chuck in all of chapter 13, but if i were to answer it I'd probably add everything you said and also explain how classical and operant conditioning work and their differences.

On the November exam cover sheet Section C is worth only 10 marks, not 15 marks like mid years.  :) :) :)
