A committee needs to elect 5 members out of 5 males and 3 females. Showing your working, determine the probability that exactly 3 of the members will be male.

total of 8 candidates. total number of possibilities = 8C5=56

exactly 3 males: M M M F F

how many ways can we choose the males? 5C3=10
how many ways can we choose the females? 3C2=3
therefore, total no. of favourable outcomes = 10x3=30
and probabilty is 30/56=15/28
