Specifically I am doing Maestro if that makes a difference...

but can you say 'in the text'...
or 'in the novel'...

or do you call it a memoir?

anything else?

I say 'novel' as it is more specific. I use 'memoir' only when I am about to bring up a point that has got something to do with it. eg. Paul's regretful and sombre tone as he reflects upon his past is captured by the memoir style...

using 'memoir' is good for getting the metalanguage part of the critera
