What artist are you planning to study for the exam?
Cinnah:
^ Everything you just said I completely agree with.
Cinnah:
Can I ask how it's possible to do 6 Substantial folios?
My folio is about 60 A3 pages with 4-10 pictures (with annotation) on each, and little space left uncovered.
My vignette book is examples of how I could execute my final piece, of about 20 odd A4 pages, of fineliner sketches, some highlighted.
All of those include all of the graded written documents as well, inluding Proposal, Evaluation, Focus report etc etc...
Not saying I couldn't have worked harder, (even though I worked quite hard), and not underestimating anyone else's work, I just don't see how it's possible to turn over so much substance without forfeiting quality or fluffing it out to make it look like more work.
...let alone setting up the folio as far as cost goes... mine was like, $20 for the folder, $10 x 3 for all the plastic pockets, another $10 for the vignette book, and another $10 for the original A3 sketchbook with the school crest on it I worked out of ... I went through about 6 full sized glue sticks, all the bits of paper, fancy page tabs. So, overall, about $80.
I find it difficult to believe that people would spend $400 + on folio supplies, still have the time to create so much and then COMPILE it all O__O Not even including the final pieces! It's crazy! I'm sure it happens... but it's crazy...
I just want to ask people how they managed.
oscar:
Quite easy actually.
Studio Arts was a break from all of my other “hard” subjects. My medium was photography. I got A+ for both semesters in the subject. 6 folios = 3 final pieces. Must have been doing something right with quality and showing my development of ideas. ;)
I can’t believe some people had 1 folio for the whole year. The whole process was to show development from day 1 to finish. Some of my classmates didn’t even fill half a folio and you should have seen their eyes when I brought in a bag off them. LOL
I saved a lot of money going into the subject because I knew from friends that had already completed the subject that there was a large amount of cost involved. The folios/printing/materials did cost a fair wack of money, but nothing like my 3 final art pieces.
I enjoyed the subject all year, except for the shit teacher and worked my ass off. That’s why I had so many folios. ;)
Cinnah:
That's impressive!
Though I guess with all due respect, as beautiful as some photos can be,
the planning process is a lot simpler, and it's also a lot simpler to pull together quantity and experiment...
xdecay:
i don't regret this or anything, but i spent $330 on framing for one of my artwork. while everyone else i knew got frames from the reject shop.
we got pretty much the same grades.
