How do you use company examples?

I've seen posts saying that it's good to use real life examples in answers.

How do you do it...

well you can just add it on at the very end of an answer "this is reflected in 2011 when Qantas blah blah"

but usually its best if you can relate the question to the case study

i don't see a reason why you should spend all that effort trying to learn real life examples when you could link it to the case study, to be honest. examiners much prefer it if you could associate what they are asking for to the exam especially in the new study design where vcaa emphasizes the importance of application to those case studies.
