Hey guys, how many marks can you loose across both exams in order to pull off a raw 40?

40 Raw or 40 Scaled? Cause a 41 scaled is only a C+ on both exams now.

isn't exam 1 weighed differently to exam 2? so like, losing 4 marks in exam 1 and 11 marks in exam 2 is different to 7 in exam 1 and 8 in exam 2

I'm not sure, you'd be pretty close I'd say.

32/40 unfortunately is probably a B+ (:S) whilst 72/80 is probably a Lowish A+

Now exam 1 is worth 22%, whilst exam 2 is worth 44% (I think...) so possibly not. I'm not sure whether SACs are taken into account (As exams scale sacs?) but to be safe I'd say you'd be looking at a 37-39. If you lost less marks in exam 2, I'd say you'd have a shot.

But yeah don't take my word... just my opinion.

according to some itute answers, i got a 37/40 for today's spesh exam. So, as long as I don't bomb out, if I maintain that level of marks would I be able to achieve a 40? :) PS my internal marks are probably an A...low-mid 80s for my SACs.

when you do the exam, youre given a standard deviation that represents your score. so if you scored 2 s.d's above the mean your mark is "2". they weight the s.d for exam 1 vs exam 2 33% to 67%. the illusion that losing 1 mark in exam 1 is more devastating that 1 mark in exam 2 is because the distribution for exam 1 is negatively skewed, (i.e., more people bunched up at the top end), so losing 1 mark means your s.d. drops more than it would if it were exam 2.

hope that makes sense...
