Pre-Trial Procedures

For a question that asks to contrast the difference between civil pre-trial procedures and criminal pre-trial procedures; what would you write?
I was thinking that the purpose of criminal pre-trial procedures are to determine how the accused is going to plea (guilty/not guilty) and to determine whether the prosecution has sufficient evidence to acquire a conviction in a higher court; whereas the the purpose of civil pre-trial procedures are to establish the nature of the dispute, the allegations being made and the remedy being sought, as well as the ensure that the parties are ready for trial.

Am i right or??

I remember on one of the last days of school going over a question like that in class, that's pretty much exactly what we covered.
Maybe you could add civil pre-trial also aims to reach an out of court settlement, something not possible in a criminal case.
