melb commerce question

i saw last year the clearly in for commerce at melbourne was 94.1 and something about a miniumum of 93. So does that mean if i got like 92.9 i would have no chance?

After that im looking at either commerce at monash (only downside is the travel) or accountancy at RMIT (the 4 year course) but dont know which of those would be my second option really.

Is anyone able to talk about any of the three courses..what they're like etc ?

I thought it the min ATAR was 92 :S
I think you could get in through middle-band but I'm not sure.

Unfortunately UoM doesn't have a middle band as such.  Middle band is reserved for Access Melbourne applicants (SEAS applicants).

REALLY!!!! I did not know that!!! So its either you get the ATAR or you dont bother applying? If the minimum ATAR is 92 and I got 92 I still have a chance???

You have a chance but if you're between the minimum and the clearly-in, you won't get an offer unfortunately :(

Do you guys reckon the cut off will stay at around 94~ish again this year? Will melb increase the number of students they take? If so the clearly in may drop a little?

You could try transferring in second year if you don't manage to get into Melbourne I guess? At second year I'm pretty sure they only look at GPA, but I've heard the places are reaaally limited so it'll be quite difficult.

My friend was in Monash Commerce last year and she told me she needed straight HDs to transfer to Melbourne but I don't know how reliable that is.

Doubt it...  A 75+ should put you in a pretty competitive position.

Also, for the minimum ATARs, they are mostly for international students.  For obvious reasons, the UoM does reduce the ATAR for international students.  So if the minimum is 92, and you are an international students, and you got over it, you're pretty much in.

Maybe it was because she was doing a Commerce/Music double degree and screwed up the music part.

Yeah you can't be sure until they release the new cutoff.

When is the cut off released?
I ended up getting 95.05 and hope that'll be enough :)

^Unsure, but they'd release their 1st round offers at Jan 16th, so u know if u get in at that date (or not)...
Ur 95.05 will easily get u in, since clearly in scores never change that drastically, unless for some
reason a lot more students want to do commerce this year.
