How was everyone's "mid"-semester "break"? (Very funny, Monash)
I've become decidedly less enamoured with genetics this semester so I'm 99% sure I'm going to switch my majors* to Psychology and Developmental Biology. Has anyone done any psych units? How are they?
I don't think Psych is as bad as others here have said, but after all, it is personal preference! I have found a some units to be better than others... I enjoyed the Biol&Dev Psych last semester probably the most out of any psych unit I have done. For most units, I have generally found that 6 out of the 12 weeks are enjoyable, the rest are pretty unpleasant... For this semester's Person&Soc Psych I have only found like 2 weeks enjoyable, the rest I find to be uninspiring and quite boring to be honest!
The assignments have changed over the past year (for the better!). I remember having strange Critical Thinking Exercises and ridiculous online class participation assignments. Now I think it is more focused on lab reports, essays and the exam.
They've done a big overhaul on Psych subjects this year, completely restructuring a lot of them and changing content and assignments. After the years of criticism, I think some of the negative comments must have sunk in! I am always brutal in my evaluations and I know that my friends are too.
A big plus: Only 6 hours of classes a fortnight (Y)
