Hey guys, I applied for on campus halls two days ago  on the 15th, is there any scope of getting an offer or is it too late?
Hmm, I don't think you'll get an offer straight away. But usually a few more spots open up after a few weeks, and you'll at least be on the waitlist :)

But yeah, applications have been open for a few months by now so I daresay there's been a fair few applicants before you!

You can always call MRS (Monash Residential Services) and speak to them, they might be able to provide a more specific answer.

Given that second round offers come out on the 2nd of Feb, and Allocate + reopens on the 6th of Feb, would I be at a disadvantage (in terms of time preferences) if I were to receive a second round offer?

If you do receive a second round offer, accept, enrol and put preferences in. Unenrol from the first after it's all processed through and it'll be all set. There's a deadline in which they sort everything via your preference, so it's not "first come first served". Just put your preferences in before that date and you're good to go!

What AngelWings said is true, but unfortunately I believe the final date for preference entry is 30 January at 10am (as Sine has said). The next time it opens (6 Feb) Allocate will be in adjustment mode (in essence, everyone who entered a preference will have been allocated to a class, and the remaining spots are first come first served). Since second round offers (2 Feb) come after the closing date for preference entry (30 Jan), second round offered students won't be able to enter preferences, but will only be able to access Allocate in adjustment mode. This was the case for me last year (my course was second round-offered). However, I found that there were still some good times available, so don't lose hope! :) For anyone accepting a second round (or beyond) offer from Monash, be sure to enrol and set up your timetable ASAP!

Ooh oops. Didn’t read “reopens” there. Clearly I’m out of it right now. Sorry about that, but yes, typically there are some good slots left especially if it’s first year.

Thanks very much for the insight everyone! If I were to gain admission into Law (honours) / Arts, for a second round, do I run the risk of losing a place in the foundation law subjects? Or does the university reserve a certain quota for second/third/fourth/fifth round students?

Sorry for all the questions.

You shouldn't lose a place in the foundation units but you may not get your first preference on tutorials (some may be full)

I should probably choose subjects ._. lol

Update: Still haven't chosen subjects. 13 days to go

Update 2: Finally chosen subjects, even with 3 days to spare - a true achievement

Oh man I'm so late to this lol but still:

Granted, I know nothing about the BSciAdv camp - but generally course camps have a reputation for being boozfests, unless they're uni (rather than club) organised.

This one is uni organised - the research one does have the opportunity to drink one night, but nobody gets even tipsy given the prices and the fact that you're surrounded by lecturers, and the GC one has none that I'm aware of.

---

So, yesterday I got a demonstrator offer for my favourite chem unit. :D :D Excited can't even begin to explain it. If anyone's doing CHM3911, beware. :p

Are there any drawbacks or other considerations when signing up for websites (like Evernote) w/ my Monash email. At least for my highschool my school email was deleted after graduation.
Also for people using Google Drive, what's your opinion on both Drive File Stream and Backup and Sync. I know the benefits of the former are that no disk space is used and it has a Team Drive function which supposedly allows for sharing docs to be easier, but as for that I've heard issues about not being able to edit documents even after being given permission, though just generally how's the experience between the two.

You will lose your e-mail after graduation, but Monash gives you 60 days (to memory) to sort out any affairs with it. I also don't remember when the 60 days start, but I think for undergrad it's from when your ceremony is finalised? That or after applying for the ceremony. Either way, you get time. I used my Monash e-mail to sign up for anything I used for uni, and now that I've finished I'm going through and moving anything I still use to a new e-mail. A little cumbersome, but not the worst, and is an easy way to unsubscribe from some mailing lists if you won't use them again after uni.

As for the drive questions, can't talk about stream, but I use backup and sync constantly for gaming stuff and I love it. Never had any issues, can recommend.

one of my units was removed late last year and the other three of mine were removed in the past few days (last 2 maybe). Although evidently a few people still have some 2017 units on moodle.
