Thanks for the wishes everyone!

Lecturers are 100% normal haha. So different to highschool where the teacher is above you in age, rank and authority. In year 11 & 12, at a separate campus, we could call teachers by their first name so it eased it in a bit. Really though they are just ordinary people, it does hit you when they make some obscure reference that you get (one of my pharmacology lecturers talks about video-games, a religion one makes Indiana Jones references, etc).

I used to keep a journal off and on, haven't done it in awhile. I never re-read it, it was more helpful in that it lets you have an internal dialogue to talk things out and see things from a different perspective.

-----

In other news, keep your eyes peeled for exam dates out soon (or like 3 weeks ago if you know someone who works for Monash). You only get one week off to study. After that, exams are allowed to be scheduled. Try stay ontop of things because you could be unlucky and get an exam (or more) the very first day after the SWOTVAC study break. If you're 30 lectures behind in each of your subjects, being hit in the first week is crippling. I've been there...it will not end well

Get ontop of your shit now so you dont get stung.

If you can't access your grades, it's a moodle issue.

If you can and no grades are shown, it might not even be an issue. Just politely ask your lecturer/tutor if they should be showing.

I've had some lecturers that don't update the gradebook until the end of semester, at the last possible date. Even though we've gotten marked assignments and everything else back.

Someone messed up...

Quote
Dear students

My apologies. There has been a confusion and the guest lecturer who was going to present today thought the lecture started at 2PM, not 1PM. Hence no one coming to the lecture theatre when you were there...

Obviously this topic will not be assessed. Once again, my deepest apologies for the confusion and for wasting your time.

You could not be any more vague, even if you tried hahaha
1. How low or high is the credit?
2. How do you define "hope"? Because anything is possible...
3. How much did that first assignment count for?
4. What is the cut-off for HD in your unit?
5. How many more assignments/assessments are there left?

Libraries are open on weekends..that's pretty much all I'm aware of. I think buildings are too but you need your card to get access to it..

It was a high credit, counted for 15% and theres 3 left! And is the cutoffs for different units different? And I just want to know what i should aim for other assignments

Well, it depends on what the other assessment tasks are worth. You will be required to get over 80% on at least one of those assessments to get a HD. I dunno what you mean by cutoff.

Like zezima said, you've been a bit vague, but I'll assume you got 68. Then the contribution of that assignment to your grade was 0.15*68 which is about 10. If you want to waste time, you can play around with the percentages and estimated grades on the rest of your assignments and try to guess at a best-case grade, a worst-case grade, and a most-likely-case grade. You should be able to generate a bunch of different scenarios where you end up with anything between 80 and 90.

Or, of course, you could get cracking on your other assignments and "aim for" the highest grade possible. Aim for 100%. Talk to your marker and see where you can improve. If you think it was unfair, look into a review, it's your right as a student after all.
