For those who have done Texts already, what preparation work did you do during the summer holidays for it?

Nothing really! Focus on your other ubjects, seriously nothing really needs to be done with text yet. Maybe read notes or whatever that you have gotten in advance but you'll be fine :D

I did texts last year and found that you can't exactly do much for it in way of preparation over the holidays.

If you wanted you could do a little research of the socio-economic/historical facts of the time (you will use this in your SACs and the exam) for your text be it Luke, John etc. I found this helped because it meant you could understand the stance from which the text was written. :)

Otherwise, there isn't much you can do unless you've done exegeses before so that you can analyse and prepare the passages.
Texts and Traditions [30]
Revolutions [37]     Biology [31]     National Politics  [31]     French  [32]     English  [41]     ATAR of 85.85
2012  Environmental Horticulture - University of Melbourne
2013  Arts @ Uni of Melb (Hopefully able to transfer from Hort)

did texts last year too! i remember that for the summer holidays..i prepared for AOS1. So i'm would assume it would be historical, contextual etc setting of the text? not too sure.

Most important thing, however, i think is to read up on your text. Make sure you know the ENTIRE text back to front. What goes before a passage, after it, inside out...etc...So get to reading it!
2010: TNT (39)
2011: English (42) | Bio (39) | Chem (35) | Jap (35) | Methods (36)|

ATAR: 95.50 ( i actually got my prediction! :D)

You don't need to do too much on the holidays for texts :) Just go through the socio-cultural/historical setting for the set texts and maybe just understand what literary forms are (similar to the ones you use in english language analysis) and see if you can just identify them in your set texts - because that greatly helped me later on in terms of the exegetical method :)
