Don't neglect legal throughout the year but its not something you should need to memorise, really just understand.

This. There are some parts of the Legal Studies course that require minor rote-learning, but that's about it as far as memorising goes. It's a common misunderstanding that you can just memorise things from the textbook over and over and get by well, but that's not the case (in my eyes) anyway. You should be understanding and applying the material you learn; looking at daily cases and news that relate to the legal principles you've learnt in class.

mhmm... intresting, do u know what parts would be most important.. or key stuff u need to know?

In light of that, a recent case/example that has been in the news, has been the couple who are trying to fight for the right to choose the sex of their next child. They want a girl and so much so, they terminated having twin boys. This relates to the legal system, as the couple are now taking their case to VCAT to have their bid overturned, as it was originally rejected. That's an interesting case to refer to; you'll find this case in the main newspapers presumably. It can be used to show how individuals want to change the law. I also agree with what werdna and Burberry have said.

I went to MHS info session for Legal Studies.

The informant there was adamant that you should take Legal 1/2 first because in his 20 years of experience no 3/4 student without 1/2 has gotten over 45 (but your aiming 35+ anyway...)

He also repeated that about 50 times (no joke).

My cousin went to Balywn she got 50 in Legal studies in Year 11 without doing 1/2.

In all honesty Just go out buy the year 11 text book and just read it and make some notes.

He backed it up with saying you need to know how to phrase answers in Legal.

I know nothing else.

Regardless of how *adamant* he is about that, I don't think it's right :S I've known a lot of people who didnt do 1/2 but nevertheless got scores of 45+

iNerd, you have absolutely no idea what you are saying...
I didn't do Units 1 and 2 and I got 199/200 on my SACS and am looking at 46+ as a study score

Locked. The question of this thread has already been answered a while back. To future students who read this; you can achieve a score of 35+ and not have done Units 1 and 2 Legal Studies - as evident by the two posts above mine with their SAC scores.
