I have a friend who got 70, a very strong SEAS application, and got into BSc in Monash (75)

But then, SEAS is not a way to 'beat the system', you have to be genuinely disadvantaged, like loss of a family member or long-term illness.

wombifat:
It would probably depend on what sort of SEAS too. Like how much of a disadvantage you had. But that's awesome about the Biomed because I also go to an underrepresented school :)

What's the actual definition of an "under-represented school"?

EDIT:  Don't worry, I found it:

--- Quote ---If you have completed Year 12 in 2008 at one of the following Victorian secondary schools you are eligible to apply for Access Melbourne in the under-represented school criterion in 2009.

Under-represented schools are defined as Victorian schools that have an average of  20 or more Year 12 VTAC applicants per year over the past three years and:

[*]Have 62% or less of applicants enrolled in a tertiary institution AND 14% or less of these enrolled at the University of Melbourne.

OR

[*]Have between 61% and 78% of applicants enrolled in a tertiary institution AND 8% or less of these enrolled at the University of Melbourne.

Victorian schools with an average of less than 20 Year 12 applicants over the past three years are considered on an individual basis for inclusion in this list.

If you want a full list of the schools, here is a full list.  The link is also the source for the above quote.

It varies between universities. I think they compile a list of basically "shit" schools where the education/resources are probably very limited compared to other schools.
