SNAP Offers

SDPHD:
So I have been offered a provisional place for a course at RMIT through the SNAP program.

My question is - assume I have a few other courses at other institutions/RMIT, ranked higher in my preferences than the course I got a provisional place for. Assume I would prefer getting into one of those courses and keep my preferences the way they are. When first round offers come around, and I am/am not offered a place in one of the courses I would rather be in, will I still be offered this place at RMIT? (Assuming I satisfy the entrance requirements etc.) Or do I have to put this course as my first preference to still be offered a place in it?

I hope my question makes sense, because I know what I'm trying to ask, but after reading over what I've said, I'm not so sure that it's comprehensible.

If you have other courses higher than the one you have been offered now, I would most likely accept the course.  The reason is that accepting an offer does not prevent you from receiving further offers in subsequent rounds provided the offer isn't your first preference.

Thanks for the reply.

So I should accept the provisional offer regardless, as I would be able to accept another offer (for a course higher up on my preferences list), provided I get one?

Also, this is an exerpt of the letter I got.

So by my undestanding, I'll be offered a place in the course during first round offers (which is when I'll be able to accept it)?

The bit that confuses me is the part where it says 'you may wish to change the order of your VTAC preferences'.

Does that mean I have to put this course as my first preference to be offered a place in it?

Or, assuming I have this particular course as my 12th (last) preference and I get an offer for another one of my higher ranked preferences during first round offers, will I be given two offers or just one?

This whole thing has me really confused :P

You have to have it as your number 1 preference to be offered it. If you have it as (let's say) number two and you get the ATAR required for your number 1 preference, then you will only get an offer from your number 1 preference.

It's all starting to make sense now, thanks.

So, assuming I have it as my 12th preference and I don't get offers for any of the courses above it, will I still be offered the place?
