I wasn't very good at physical chemistry in Chem 1, and the exam was really hard...I lost a lot of marks.  Also, it was the last of three exams crammed into four days for me in semester one.  This time, for Chem 2, I had a week between my second last and last exam so I had time to pace myself and study properly, so I was fully prepared for the questions asked.  I enjoyed kinetics more when that German lady wasn't teaching it...

Oh so it was just circumstance? What about the material, generally easier? Less memory work? (I hated having to memorise all those phosphate equations and structures.)

Well not really, considering my circumstances were like 500 times worse for second semester in terms of being prepared for all of my exams.
I found the material easier, but I felt at a disadvantage in first semester having such a long break between VCE Chem and returning to the curriculum.  No more memorisation of equations, mostly concepts and just a couple of things to memorise, like the haemoglobin structure and the processes of metal synthesis and a couple of things for organic chem.

And with every day out of high school, maths just gets 500% harder.
