Hi,
I'm currently thinking of running a Headstart Psychology Lecture in late january, if i can gain enough interest in such a program. I achieved a study score of 50 in Psychology in 2010, and was also awarded a Premiers' Award for my success. Throughout this year, I have provided help for three students, two of which achieved 50 (both won the Psychology Award in their respective schools - Melbourne High School and Ivanhoe Girls Grammar), and another who achieved a 48.
The lecture will only be 60-90 minutes. I understand that the course changed in 2011, so what I will be going into is not the content of the course itself, but HOW to answer the questions, in particular short-answer questions. Psychology is not a difficult subject, everyone and anyone can understand the content, so the only way to distinguish yourself from others is HOW you answer the questions. VCE examiners are very pedantic with how you answer the question, and it is the case that many people study hard, but do not have the proper method of answering questions which lets them down in the exam. I will also be going through how to study throughout the year, but like i said, the lecture will be predominantly focused on how to, and how not to answer short-answer questions in a psychology examination. I will also hopefully collaborate a small booklet of sample answers, with some annotations for short answer questions.
So please post a comment if you're interested, ask your friends if they're doing psychology :)
#EDIT 1: 6th January
i will be running the lecture, most likely in the city, either at city/state/rmit library :)
i'll probably run it in groups of 2-4 at once.
time: probably two-three sessions beginning on the week starting 16th (of january!)
cost: $30 - for 70-90 minutes, a small booklet will be provided to each person who attends, which i'll be going through in the lecture. it'll contain sample answers and tips for studying/exam preparation etc.
post a comment if interested, or pm/message me :)
#EDIT 2: 10th January
The dates are finally set ! :)
For the meanwhile, I'll be running two lectures, one on Friday 20th of January, and one on Friday 27th of January.
Post/message which days you'd like to be booked for, first in first served ! ;)
also, i will be allowing questions at the end of the lecture, not just related to psychology, but anything about vce, taking the umat, interviews etc. :) for those interested..
#EDIT 2: 11th January
Location: State Library
Change in numbers: Groups of 2-3 (as i was unable to book a large room at RMIT :()

Premiers and a 50 for psych, what more could you want? A brilliant communicator as shown by his 50 in english, and an all round top bloke. 99.90 is no easy feat and reflects his dedication and commitment. Is a genuinely nice guy who has provided much advice to myself throughout the year. If i was doing psychology next year i would definitely go to this lecture without a doubt. Psych students for next year would be lucky to attend this lecture.
Ravit:
i would definitely attend:D
