Hey guys,
would you be able to check if these answers are correct, as well as help me with 4 questions im confused about explaining

To what extent is the royal assent an automatic process?
To a large extent it the royal assent an automatic process as it is necessary before an Act of Parliament can become a law.

How important is royal assent in the process of law-making?
Royal Assent is the signing of a proposed law which is necessary before an Act of Parliament can become a law.

Explain the reserve powers of the Governor-General and the Governors of each state.
o   Governor-General
To ensure that the country continues to be governed

o   Governor
Could exercise discretion in order to protect Britain’s interests

Please help with these questions :(

1.Outline the main features of the Australian Constitution

2. In what way is the Australian Parliamentary System a Constitutional Monarchy?

3. Explain the terms ‘House of Review’ and ‘States’ House’. Do you think these terms apply to the Senate today? Explain

4. The ALP has a majority in the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly in Victoria. To what extend does this lead to effective law-making? Discuss

Thanks in advance! any help would be awesome! :)

As awkward as it is; I have no idea how to answer question 2.. LOL
Anyway: question 1 is a dodgy q: I'd probably explain specific powers and residual powers as well as the limitations on state+commonwealth powers.

Question 3; House of review = checking legislation as it passes from the lower house before royal assent comes into play
states house = there's equal representation for each state regardless of size: hence each state's interests is represented fairly in the senate.

They do not apply as much today as if there is a majority government in the upper house it acts as a rubber stamp - passing and agreeing on legislation if there's a majority without reviewing legislation properly, and if there is a minority government they tend to over-scrutinise legislation, hence preventing laws from being passed well

soz if this is brief, you should expand on it :)

Question 2 is foundation knowledge, not necessary for Unit 3 AOS1.

playsimme provided a great template for the other questions :) Do elaborate though.
