School Holidays - 1 week progress

Finished reading V for Vendetta, Euripedes' Medea, Sophocles' Antigone, Lord of the Flies, Hamlet, and watched the four hour Kenneth Branagh version of Hamlet.  Reading Oedipus the King by Sophocles tonight.  Bought Herodotus' Histories, another translation of the Iliad and The Canterbury Tales at a second hand bookstore.  Also managed to relax myself and see some friends a bit here and there.

Wait, what, schoolwork?  lol.

(I spent one night doing Methods tuition homework.  *cough*  I have five essays to write and Probability to finish off in Methods...*sigh*)

Way way way behind schedule. I've been called into work a few times and have a few more shifts next week along with other appointments, so my only free days are monday, friday and saturday.
So far I've done 2 maths activities, and half of the psych work I was given  eek

And yeah, the introductions to the Greek plays (in particular Antigone) are actually quite useful for Lit; there's some very nice writing for me to be inspired by when I'm writing my own argued readings.  =p

Not a lot...

2 and a half physics Checkpoints chapters done + Review Questions from book. + would like to get ahead of class and start electricity myself.

Only two or three exercises left for methods (coz i nvr do the hw, too busy doin spec, so id thought id catch up in holidays) + still need to do checkpoints for em.

Spec: I'm going thru doing all the questions i missed and other hard ones + review questions + still need to do checkpoints.


and havent started english  Going to do heaps of lang analysis because I'm crap at it, then e-mail em to teach...

and ONLY IF I finish english early (because I hate the crap out of it and am so sloww doing the work) then i'll contemplate doing ITA revision

Yeah I'm studying Antigone this year as well and I've read the first play and half of the second then got bored...so I never actually got round to reading Antigone oh well I'll read it eventually

And to Yoho: do you mean two or three exercises left in the book? that's crazy! I'm on like chapter 5

Haha, thanks.  I've only managed because of my public transport trips.  Reading's the easiest way to pass the time on the tram/train!

I did a test years ago, and back then I could read at roughly the average adult speed...  Nowadays, it depends.  I'd guess 1984 would take me two or three hours maybe to read, if it's as long as I remember - probably closer to two.

It was a rough estimate!  Honestly, I read it years ago, and I can't remember how long it took me.

Also, 30 minutes to read 2 or 3 chapters doesn't sound bad at all, assuming each chapter is about 10-20 pages!  That'd be about how fast I go.  =)

Yes, public transport (or lack of these days, *coughs* Connex *coughs*).  When I used to catch public transport frequently, I used to read the paper and sometimes a book.  Although I did steer clear of The Age because it was just too big to read.  I've realised that after I've stopped reading frequently, my reading speed has dropped, which is quite disappointing at a time when I need to read fast.

Back on topic, I'm behind schedule as well.  Out of the whole week, I've only managed to do 3 days of solid work when I planned 4 days of solid work and 3 days of rest.

You know, I think being around all these nerds on VN has motivated me to do more work, because people at school don't really do much so I feel weird doing heaps of work, if you get what I mean?

And we're going to study Antigone in literature, but haven't started yet. I'd already read the first play and part of the second when I found that out though so it was pretty lucky really

The worst is when you've finished reading the page and you're ready to flip the page until you realise that somebody is reading that page over your shoulder.  It's happened to me a few times and I didn't want to turn the page because I'd feel bad and holding the paper up for several minutes while waiting also felt very awkward.

and no, I believe the worst is when you leave your library book on the bus and have to travel to lilydale to get it back. (but this is probably getting off topic)
