So, who thinks that they will be doing biomed @ melb next year?

(yes, I am starting to build the hype + rivalry from this early stage! :p)

Don't want to sound over-confident but I think I've made the cut-off! :D

Who is going to do the September UK GAMSAT?
2011: ATAR 99.50
2012: Bachelor of Biomedicine, UoM
2015: Doctor of Dental Surgery, UoM

I'm waiting till second year to start gamsat. I reckon in the first year you won't have enough knowledge to do well in section 3 (what I've been told). Is anybody doing the UMAT during their first year??

stonecold did it! (and owned it too!)

Was semester one knowledge enough to complete section 3 stonecold?

Also, if you can afford the money, it's probably good practice for sections 1 and 2 anyway.

I think semester 1 is enough, much of the information is given to you anyway.

Better to start early then :)

EDIT:

Guys, relax, get a life man. It's the holidays after VCE, don't even think of GAMSAT study at this stage.

And Access Melbourne can tell you over the phone whether or not your SEAS was approved and whether you qualified for their selection guarantee whereby if meet pre-reqs and 92 you are in.

Ummm, I honestly don't know how I did it lol.  Luckily between VCE chem and Chem for Biomed in Sem 1, you cover nearly all the chem you need to know, which is by far the hardest bit.  Between VCE Bio, Semester 1 Bio and 8 weeks of Semester 2 Bio (this is when the test came around), the bio was tricky but at the same time straight forward enough for me to do.  It was all pretty much interpretation of graphs and diagrams, and applying basic scientific principles.  Physics I was the most screwed for.  I reckon there was a good 10 or so questions where I had no idea what I was doing, and either just had to guess or deduce something on the spot.  They always give you the formula for physics, which makes it very easy at times.  I just had to plug in and solve for some questions.  It was more the theory questions where I struggled.  I had to rely on Year 11 physics and 8 weeks of Semester 2 Physics for Biomed.  I was completely screwed for the sound, waves, optics and circular motion questions, yet I somehow managed to get some of the questions right I believe.  You can get by with logic for a lot of it!

Anyway, don't let anyone tell you it is not possible in first year.  They are full of it.

I honestly cannot see a reason for why you wouldn't do it in first year, unless you really cannot afford it.

I don't thikn you need to know much bio, a lot of it is just interpreting diagrams and flow charts. I didn't do vce bio NOR semester 1 bio. I did semester 2, which focused more on genetics and evolution, which didn't help much anyway. I just did some past questions and it ended up being ok.

@stonecold Can I ask what you got in the gamsat? And if you're going to attempt it again.
