How does the respect function work?

• Respect = Community Respect (replaced the 'Karma system'), one can gain respect through the voting of their posts by other members. +4 on a post = +1 respect, -4 on a post = -1 respect. +5 respect is given for notes contribution

If someone is given +5 on a post does this count as +1.25 respect or do they have to wait until they receive +8 on the post for it to count further?

That used to be me, I tried to cut back a bit, but keep doing it, we're not complaining . It just means you aren't afraid to upvote things i.e. it doesn't matter what others think, you're making your own decisions and not just following the masses.
