Uni Book to Help 3/4

hey, i was wondering if a first year uni book would help 3/4 chemistry as it would give you a greater understanding of the fundamentals and that if not, what would be some good books to help understand the fundamentals, thanks

Don't really think you'd need any university level text to help understand the content in 3/4 :/ Perhaps just use Heinemann/Checkpoints/Khanacademy (youtube)/Nelsons/Lisachem etcetc to help your understanding.

I think you risk going off topic and learning content that will not be examined if you look to university level texts to learn the content. But if your aim is to consolidate and broaden your understanding of chemistry to a wider context than just year 12 chemistry then i believe it is a worth a shot. In any case i thought i'd add, you cant go wrong with Organic chemistry by Mcmurry, really liked this text. For general and a bit of inorganic chemistry i liked silberberg. Good luck with your chem studies.

Uni books give you that added depth and credibility, and are therefore best for clarifying points of ambiguity and misundertanding (which there are heaps of in chem). whereas some yr 12 level textbooks and study guides may not give you the complete picture, forcing you to fill in the holes with extrapolations of knowledge that are sometimes incorrect, or provide conflicting info, a uni book is likely to cover the details and remove that uncertainty. although i didn't try this for chem, i found biology to contain many ambiguities that were covered clearly in a uni text.

Chemistry by Blackman is the text we used for MUEP Chem, and it is very good for in depth - particularly in IR/NMR etc covered in Unit 3.

Downside, it costs about $150 and isn't available online...
