Bachelor of Arts - Melbourne Access Scholarship

Evening all!

I received notification and accepted the Melbourne Access Scholarship, which was a lovely bonus. However, I have not received confirmation re: guaranteed placement in the course. I fell under multiple SEAS categories including financial disadvantage, regional area, underrepresented school and medical conditions (yes, a whole litany of problems abound in my life). My ATAR was somehow 93.95 which I am very happy with considering my efforts in Year 12 and what affected me. I was under the impression that one had to score 78.00 or greater for guaranteed placement in the Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne? I know last year the clearly-in ATAR was 88.00 which was the same as Monash Clayton's ATAR requirements, methinks.

Another dilemma that currently exists for me is that I was selected for the Kwong Lee Dow program. I believe that needed a minimum score of 90.00 for a regional student to qualify to have a choice from all the New Generation degrees. I have not heard any word of this offer, and, upon contacting the KLD representative via email, I was informed that it will be granted to underrepresented students for the year of intake. This means I could potentially not be granted the scholarships related to that program despite being under the impression I would be guaranteed this entry pathway?

In short, does it look like I will be getting an offer from the University of Melbourne on the 16th of January?

hey there! if you've already accepted an offer.. then don't quote me but i'm pretty sure THAT is your vtac offer!
the scholarships should have much higher clearly-in ATAR cut offs, when you're talking about melbourne they may have made some allowances considering you were a SEAS applicant...
so maybe you'll receive paperwork for it all on the 16th????
perhaps you should speak to your careers counsellor, they're all sorts of helpful

I don't see why you wouldn't get an offer to the BA

It was a scholarship offer though? I guess it makes sense that they would only offer scholarships to people they expected to be part of the intake for 2012?

Cheers.  ;D

Not aware if "bumping" is against the rules of these forums (moderators, please advise), but if anyone else could shed some light on the matter I would appreciate it.

From reading that page (it says you need to meet the requirements to be offered one) I would say you will be offered a place on Monday.

But uh, if you don't, don't hurt me. There's no real "confirmation" anywhere.

Thank you. That information was handy. I have been trying to navigate the UoM website on a dial-up connection speed (got speed capped due to using up all my downloads!), so that very helpful. I think 93.95 should get me in. I mean, the clearly-in was 88 last year. I stress too much.  :-[

I would not hurt you anyway.  ;D
