With tip 3, I thought every subject finished 5 minutes early and started 5 minutes late? But yea I agree with Russ.
haha you would be surprised how short that 10 minutes gets when you stop to chat with people you know-always happens when you're running late

but yeah, no fair enough, it must just be me that's fat and too lazy to move fast

Where are you getting all the times/locations for your lectures and tuts?
if you go to the handbook entry of each subject and there should be a 'show timetable' link on the subject page
Looking at that timetable above, there are so many blanks WHAT DO YOU GUYS DO?
:O
I'm year 12 and I intend to study commerce at Melb Uni. Sorry for thread-jacking but what does it take to become an actuary?
I'm also considering this... I'm one of those kids who really likes maths but aren't as good as those crazy asian (sorry for stereotyping) kids who are crazy at maths!
I heard there's a huge drop out rate
what do people usually take on instead? An apartment near the uni or not?
*The awkward moment when you're asian and you realise you're not good at anything*
Again, sorry acinod for thread-jacking.
it's not a stereotype if it's true

You don't have to be crazy at maths. If you enjoy maths that is easily good enough. Not to make this an arbitrary line, but generally if you're looking at ~43 raw in spech you should be fine, having said this i know people that got less than this and still have been coping fine. Not you have to get a 38+ raw in spech to do the accelerated maths path, but i know people who ahve done the lower maths path way, it's doesn't really hinder you at all and again i know people that did this and coped fine. Don't think that being a math god like TT or other of the VN math legends means that you can't do actuarial, you should defintiely give it a go.
In terms of alternate majors, if you switch after 1st year you can go into any major you want. If you switch at the end of 2nd year you can go into eco/finance if you've done intemediate microeconomics. In terms of the most popular major that actuarial 'dropouts' take up is accounting/finance at the end of 1st year.
Also it's not so much you're not good at anything as you just haven't found out what you enjoy doing, case in point every single arts student

But seriously, chilllax, very few people know what they want to do straight out of highschool, just do what you enjoy and you'll find what you enjoy and be good at it soon enough, to be honest i'm not sure what i want to do at all either.
