What say all of you to the following...
enwiabe:
Bits of advice I've picked up over the year:
Text responses:
Write your contention at the top of the page, I.E. Contention: That...
"Creative" introduction - I.E. paint a scene that represents the theme that you're trying to convey in your essay and link it up to the intro paragraph.
Writing Task:
Cover pages: That is, writing what your "Contention", "Target Audience" and "Purpose" is on the page before you start your persuasive.
Have any of you heard of these techniques? Are they good?
vce_2007:

I'd advise against that for TR's. Most teachers prefer to see formally structured essays. Your intro might be brilliant with that style but it is likely to polarise examiners
ninwa:
in the english exam it's best to stick to what's definitely accepted.
ie. its NOT the time to go trying something radical. like BA22 said, itll polarise your examiners, get a 3rd marker involved, and if they dont like it either you're screwed.
for sec 2 ... do that if it helps you. but examiners will almost never look at any of your planning notes, unless your essay is so messed up it makes no sense whatsoever. then they might look at your thought processes so they dont have to give you a 0 (is that possible?)
