UoM Arts Subject Help

Hey guys, sorry if these are silly questions, but I need help with knowing where to put what on my subject selection. I am having trouble understanding it.

Under "BA-LV1DISCIP - Level 1 Discipline Subjects" do I put the Level 1 subjects I want to do in my Major and Minor (although I want to do the equivalent of two majors)? Politics and International Relations being one major and the other being Philosophy.

OR do I put the subject selection under "BA-MAJORS - Majors" and "Option for BA-OPTIONS Major 2, Minor or Disciplines" ? If this is the case, what do I put under the discipline subjects...  ???

I am so confused :(

i was hoping someone would know too! it seems like there are way too many drop-down options for multiple subjects..

do you also find it confusing that there are more than one 'choose' function for the majors (they appear right after you choose your first one)? i mean, don't you only have the option to do max 2 majors? ughh.

Basically why I am struggling with it. But, I rang Melbourne and the lovely lady who took my phone call told me it would be explained at Academic Advice Day and not to worry too much about it; just research the subjects you are interested in and show up with an idea of the way you want things to flow.

Just, yeah, patients I suppose! If anyone can clarify the manner we enter subs and what not, it would be so wonderful though :)

oh i don't know if you already know this -

you choose 8 subjects for the whole year so only 4 per semester (this is recommended because it pans out well for 3 years without overloading on any) and one of the 8 has to be a core such as 'power', 'identity', 'reason' etc etc which you can find the descriptions of in the handbook. to be honest, i think those stuff are absolute bullshit but anyway, it's compulsory for arts.

and also, the reason why there are many drop downs is because it doesn't only cover your first year but all three years. so far you have nothing to worry about and only have to enrol your first year (some people are even planning to enrol first semester only).

as for 'discipline subjects', they are just electives and because you plan on doing two majors, there wouldn't be enough space for you to do many so as long as you fit the 4 subjects per semester thing then you're fine.

sorry this has been all jumbled but this is what i've been told over the phone (spent about 40mins of international call credit haha) by a very helpful young lady. so i hope this helped!

Thank you so much <3 That makes much more sense! I am most definitely going to AAD though, heh. I hope you work out your degree well; I might even bump into you some time on campus unknowingly ;p
