Biomed - Bioengenineering systems Major

As those who have begun their study plans for biomed will know, there are two pathways you can chose; Standard or Bioengenineering systems Major.

INTENDING TO TAKE A BIOENGINEERING
SYSTEMS MAJOR?
In that case, you must select ENGR10003 Engineering Systems Design
2, MAST10006 Calculus 2 and MAST10007 Linear Algebra (or both
MAST10008 Accelerated Mathematics 1 and MAST10009 Accelerated
Mathematics 2, depending on your mathematical background) in first
year. These subjects are taken instead of Experimental Design & Data
Analysis and Physics. Please note that you can still decide to take a
major in a different area of study if you wish and not be disadvantaged;
however, in order to complete the Bioengineering Systems Major you
MUST take the prescribed first-year units.

I'm tempted to take this if only because it means we get to avoid Experimental Design & Data Analysis (which I have heard is absolute shit). I have no intention of taking Bioengenineering systems Major now, but I'm not sure whether I wanna lock myself out of the option.

Any advice? What has everyone else gone with?

Why can't I chose the standard pathway? I don't get this problem when I try and plan the other pathway. Does it mean that it has already filled up?

Sorry, but I'm kinda panicking. Why can't I select the standard pathway? I decided that as bad as stats is, I think I wanna do the mandatory physics unit. it sounds interesting.

You can't select the standard pathway because the study plan is shit.

Try not typing anything in and hitting "search" if you're trying to put subjects in. If that's not what's wrong, post a screenshot, I can't visualize your problem from the description.

Also, do not do the bioengineering systems subjects if you have no intention of doing the major...

Okay, the screen looks like the first attachment, then I click "Choose and save this selection" and the second screen appears.

Try using firefox and/or IE

If that doesn't work, log into Portal separately, go to the admin tab and choose "change/view my study plan" and try it through there.

Basically the new enrolment page is really annoying (that thing with the green boxes didn't exist when I first enrolled 3 years ago and I had no problems...I had to use the new one last week for the MD and it was a nightmare)

Whatever the case is, you absolutely do not need to panic. Nothing is set in stone for at least another 2 months. There is nothing to worry about! It's just that you have to wait, which is annoying I know.

I ended up calling them (13 MELB) and after about 10 minutes they managed to manually enroll me in the standard pathway

Ah okay, thanks for the update! I've been calling and calling, but apparently there is a large queue for the EPSC... LOL this is so frustrating

I went to the student centre today to enquire about this - basically, the system for Standard Pathway is broken at the moment (as you've noticed), but you can enrol in the 3 core subjects currently available for the time being. At least that way you know you've enrolled in something (doesn't actually matter); the rest will be manually added to your study plan on monday so that you can enrol into them.
(Or you can randomly pop in today like I did and have it done...or make a call XD)

Is anyone enroling their subject after the academic advice day? Or have you guys already started enrolling?
Do you only enrol for the first year? Or do you enrol for all 3 years including your breadth etc... tbh I  dont even know anything about the subjects and not sure what to pick under the mathematics section -.-... there are like caclulus 1, calculus 2, linear algebra.. etc. how the hell do I know which one to pick...
