I'm confused about this piece of information from the uni's page about the dimploma of languages. Can someone could please explain it to me?
The final 50 points of the DipLang is Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS) free. The Higher Education Contribution Scheme exemption is available to students in the new generation undergraduate degree, but not to Bachelor of Engineering students. Only the final 50 points of the Diploma in Languages may be taken as Higher Education Contribution Scheme free: students must have completed the first 50 points of the Diploma (either through a cross crediting arrangement or in addition to their degree requirements) to be eligible to complete 50 points of study Higher Education Contribution Scheme free.

http://arts.unimelb.edu.au/amsc/getting-more/programs/diploma-in-languages.htmlDoes this mean we can't put the final 50 points of the diploma onto HECs and thus have to pay the fees upfront? Or are you exempt from this if you're in a new generation degree? I was hoping I could put the whole diploma onto my HECS debt...
On a side note: does anyone know why the university "strongly recommends" that we don't enrol in the diploma until the second year?
