Hey, everyone goes through that initial stage of being overwhelmed. It is totally normal. I mean, I actually HAD to go to classes for a change. Everyone is serious. The pressure in the room mounts. Even the kids with a streak of having a lower intelligence will pick up their game. Its a fact of life. All I can really say is, just don't let it get to you. Face it. Give this week all you have. It gives you a taste of what to come. Also, figure the shit out with boyfriends/girlfriends. Honestly, you have NO IDEA how much shit has happened to me this year because of the school work then the dramas aside from it. Be clear and sort it out now. I'm telling you, you will feel you have a little more direction because of it.

Yeah, I feel as though all the stuff with my ex is really making me not only loose focus of year 12, but just I get so depressed and just doubt everything, I think it's more of the fact that I cut myself off from my friends and ex without a proper explanation, it just all feels like an unfinished job, but I just feel like i'm letting go of my pride by fixing things.

Honey, you need to sort your shit out.

nosuperstar, I think the best thing for you is to take some time out to find something that can help you let go of some of the stress, it's not something that should be built up.

I think any teacher that ignores their students efforts in aiming to do well should not be a teacher.

I don't know what to do though :'(

I agree, it was like a total throwback because i'm aiming for close to 50 in further and my teacher said because it's the most enrolled maths subject in vce, the highest we could get is in the 30's. :o

Rubbish, you can definitely get that 50!!

As I think someone else has suggested, perhaps try doing some extra curricular activities outside of school. I think it'll give you something other than school, school, school to focus on. I'm personally thinking about taking up cricket, I think I sport is a great idea, even dance etc...

You could do something as simple as walking or jogging. I've found in the past year, that it is has had a profound affect in helping me unwind from my problems, whatever they may be, school, family, any sort of stress. It helps because I can bring the problem forward and tell my self what I think and just end it there, if it angers me, jog harder you know.. Although the reason I can do that is probably because I'm a shallow guy hahaha  :P

With regards to workload stress. It may be obvious, but just try working a head by one or two classes? Most of my teachers have given out a full time table for the year which contains what we'll be doing in each week of classes. So I'm just working ahead two classes now and I'll spend time perfecting my bound reference and seeking help if necessary, during class.

Another benefit is that if some day(s) you just aren't feeling it (we all have those, surely), you know that you'll still be ahead!

Headstart for me has been alright thus far. Workload is increasing as each day goes by. We start off with a lot of theory and explanations so there a lack of homework being set at the moment, but that won't last long haha.

I'm feeling confident because I'm putting a lot of effort in every class and I'm feeling that it's helping me understand everything a lot better than I have this year. I really hope that I can keep this attitude up for the entire year because I think it'll be really beneficial in the long run.

I was thinking of loosing some weight during the summer holidays, hopefully that can help ease my stress a bit.

I'm waiting to be able to borrow text books so I can start getting ahead but I think that's part of my problem too, like, I feel a bit helpless since I can't get a head start just because my school is unorganized.

Honey, you need to sort your shit out.

I know, I know. :'(

I know I am a bit late entering into this conversation but try not to be too hard on yourself nosuperstar. You have to think of your situation in perspective. It's nearing the end of the year, you have just emotionally battled through exams and what sounds like a extremely difficult relationship, so of course anything new like transition into year twelve, with all its connected pressures, is going to make you feel stressed. As other have already said, try to just take a step back, and remind yourself that the year is nearly over. Furthermore, the fact that you have identified problem areas, such as the need to contain your stress and the fact that you have the tendency to cut yourself off from those around you is a positive sign. You now have to find a way to work through these things, and the points that Kesh has made are excellent. Just make sure that you don't channel all your stress into another outlet alone, as, whilst goals like losing weight can be perfectly fine and healthy, you want to keep everything in moderation. It's all about balance in and out of school, but such balance is inevitably hard to find. Try not to dwell on the past. If there is anything that I have learned throughout this tumultuous year it is this: Sometimes you need to let it go in order to move forward. Your ex is your ex. Your year 11 results are your year 11 results. And it's okay to not be okay, as long as you are still fighting to stay afloat.

Bit late entering the conversation, but there's only one thing that I would like to say.

Nosuperstar, despite all the stress and emotionally draining things in your life right now, soon, (ie next Friday), you'll be on holidays and whatnot. Life is full of ups and downs, but the most important thing is to concentrate on the positives, and to constantly remind yourself that things WILL be better. Yes, you have to sort your shit out, but some things are better left behind, as e.clair has said.

Concentrate on the positive things, and you'll find soon that life doesn't seem too bad.

Go jogging. Seriously, it's the best thing I ever started doing to handle stress. Any kind of exercise really helps. Don't do it just to lose weight though-do it for fun- everything else will follow. :)

Know your support network and who to go to when you're feeling down.  It's important to have a toolset of coping skills for when times get tough, I think, especially in the lead up to yr 12.

Amen. How strange life is. And how damn difficult it can be! I think it's normal to be feeling tired and worn out and stressed right now, superstar. :) I know shit happens; all we can do is take the experiences we are given, learn from them, and just keep on trying to become more of the person we want to be. *hugs*

I only get today off before I go to school again, although tomorrow is an all-day workshop about sexual decision-making according to the Christian ethos (O_O) and then Friday is the awards ceremony and the beginning of a week-long headstart (although for Specialist it's a week and a half).

I guess I'll be using today to read up on some Biology stuff which I need to familiarise myself with.

Does jumpstart really count as year 12 though? I mean it's really just a week of bonus classes/ opportunity to load us up with holiday homework.
