I don't mind it being compulsory, but I hate that it has to be in the top 4 in the calculation of your ATAR. I wish my school offered English Language.
Nisha, you actually have no idea how much compulsory work I have to do. I think I made a list and a fair few people had a heart attack.
EDIT: Here's the list. Enjoy.
Re: Starting to study for year 12
Stick, I can dethrone you easily. This is what I did JUST FOR ENGLISH, last year holidays:::
-Read The reluctant Fundamentalist 4 times
- Answered all questions (which was about ....20 questions EACH OF WHICH i wrote paragraph answers. I ended up writing close to a 45 page analysis)
-Researched my issue completely and had a plastic pock folder of all arguments (for and against) which supporting articles and evidence.
-Written my powerpoint (cbbs doing the speech as I could just do it all on the day)
-Read through 2-3 other books similar to TRF to get the context of the book right (analysed those according to themes) and wrote ~5 essays total
-Read GUAIA twice and highlighted and annotated the book
-Re-went through the book and took out quotes and key themes that were common
-Wrote ~5 text responses on my context book (which was stupid...but I didn't do 1/2 English so I didn't know the different types of essays)
-Wrote ~4 text responses for TRF
-Read the newspaper everyday
-Cut out every article I found semi-interesting and wrote a page analysis on each ( I still have the scrapbook)
-Read the business section ( to kind of de-code what the HELL they are saying. The words they use are hard to distinguish so I practised so that I could get the gist out of any article)
-Wrote 2 LA's.
So there ya go. And I was chill about Year 12. So calm down.
