Can't you change preferences now??

Our school allows us to change after we get our 3/4 from this year. Probably even let us at the start of next year as well.

The problem is, my IT apps teacher is the 'go to' guy for subject changes, he know's i'm good at the subject and both he and my school's VCE co-ord (who I also had for IT) denied me when I wanted to drop out of it previously for a prereq subject, he also doesn't let people change 3/4s until the start of next year, quite a shame also because if I swap, I would have lost the summer holiday headstart on the subject.

The thing was. I absolutely hated Accounting with a passion. I was going to drop it since I had 7 subjects.

But decided to knuckle down and give it a go. Finished unit 3 like 3 months before the exams (finished unit 4 in the term 3 holidays). Tried to do all the practice exams out there so that I would be exposed to a wide range of questions. And this was on top of my 4 other subjects.

So seriously guys, just give it your best shot. I'll always be around to help. Hopefully the AN Study Guide (which im currently writing) will expose some more harder questions so that the exam will be a piece of cake. :)

Plus having no midyear means that you can finish the course even earlier than me :P

I was planning on buying the study guide, was wondering, is one a workbook and a book with all the info or is one for unit 3 and one for unit 4?

That's a shame. They probably want to avoid impulse decisions if you know what I mean. I've wanted to drop spesh, then take it again, and I've finally dropped it. Wanted to do further, dropped it, took it finally. And now, Accounting and business.

I think at the end of the year, you'll be set.

definetely go with your passion

Will do

One will be all the quesitons. The other will be answers and then super detailed answers on how to answer the question and marking guide.

Anything you want me to add in it btw?

Hehe, I'm still contemplating whether I want to do accounting or bus man. Thing is I enjoyed busman more than accounting so I think that in itself answers the question.

Don't choose BM because you think it is an 'easy' subject. Many people carry that attitude and don't end up doing well. It's also worth keeping in mind that it does scale down by a fair bit. I know a friend last year who lost 2-3 marks in SACs across the entire year and only ended up with a 42 raw (39 scaled), whereas he got 47 in Accounting. He said that he spent a lot more time preparing for BM, yet he did worse, so yeah that's just something to keep in mind :P

Since I haven't done BM, I can only speak for accounting. In all honesty, the content in Accounting is quite dry. Like BoredSaint has said, it is considered to be an 'easy' subject in that the content itself is not difficult, it's simply about minimising silly mistakes under exam pressure. Also, note that the new SD is similar, if not exactly the same with the exception of no more mid year exam, so don't let that put you off.

Here are some of my suggestions as to what to include in the study guide:

- questions should have a suggested time limit to practice time management
- try to introduce a broad range of questions, instead of repeating similar ones
- focus on the more difficult aspects of the course, such as BDA instead of the relatively easy topics. Could introduce a step-by-step guide on how to tackle tough topics.
- try to put some 'tricks' in the questions to emulate VCAA
- perhaps summary notes on each Unit
- suggested solutions should include alternative responses, as a wide range of answers are accepted (for theory)

I haven't started much of unit 3/4 yet, but as long as there's decent explanations/questions on balance day adjustments, i'm all good.

I'm excited to purchase AN study guides this time around, a good change from using just one resource.

I'm going to be purchasing a few as well :) Just have to wait for a few 2013 changes.

Nah, I'm choosing it because I enjoy it.

I don't accounting as such, but I prefer Busman. But if the risks are too high in bus man, then accounting is a better option. Also, it's worth noting that I'll probably be ranked higher in the Busman cohort.

I've done the first two and that's all I intend to do, because my first SAC is in the second week and it's based on gravimetric analysis.

Yep. I finished it in an evening. It's all I'm required to do for Chemistry, oddly enough. I just don't want to confuse myself with other information.

My holidays will really revolve around English. All the other subject homework is finished with the exception of Biology which I intend to have finished tomorrow.
