Can I attend a different enrolment date?

My friend and I have enrolment dates one day after the other. I was wondering if i can attend Monash Clayton and finish my enrolment a day earlier than prescribed on my offer letter.

nope, you must enrol on the date that's specified in your letter.

Oh really? But the monash website says that on enrolment day:
"We will:

Check your transaction numbers and documents to confirm your enrolment. If you have not finished enrolling, we can help you do this
Give you your student ID card and student diary"

Can't we do this earlier?

well this is because ALL students that are studying the courses which are governed by the same faculty have their enrolments on that single day, if you go on the enrolment of another day, your faculty won't be there, it'll be the faculty that governs another course.

yeah, you can.. but you have to be really careful when enrolling in your units online. generally when you're a first year, there are no electives and there's not much choice between core units anyway; just enrol those and go to monash, get your student I.D. card.

The enrolment lady there asked me why I didn't go on the date for my course (25th jan), I told her I was going overseas and she said it was totally fine; as long as I picked all my units correctly, had photo I.D. and all my WES transaction numbers.

I picked all my core commerce/law units online, according to the handbook online, did my timetable via allocate+ and everything. I'm planning to skip the enrolment day - I called up monash if the day was COMPULSORY - apparently it's not compulsory; most people leave clueless and it's just to help orientate you a little and help you pick/units enrol.

Basically all the stuff (@ official enrolment day) - you can do them at home anyway, if you read the course handbooks.

so, yeah, I fully enrolled and got my student i.d. before actual enrolment day (I have an overseas flight at that time so yeah, can't go anyway). they then send you up to the "Airport Lounge",, assign you a host scheme buddy, walk you through awesome maccas/subway discounts of 20%, camp signup, and hand you a massive MSA calender and diary. free stuff, woot woot.

It's ok to skip the "compulsory" enrolment SESSIONS themselves as long as you make it up some other time; just call them up and ask.

remember, your enrolment is "complete" once you get your student i.d. card at monash

good luck! oh and, TrueTears is right - you can't get all the same "information" and the enrolment-day stuff if you miss the day. But the stuff isn't that important; you CAN definitely enrol earlier or after your set date though.

Ah! So that means i could've gone on an earlier date! But i actually need some help with picking my units, so I guess it's good that i go to my actual enrollment date.  Thanks for the info!

Hey quick question, when they ask for transaction numbers do they have to be shown on the enrollment checklist that was recommended on the website? And do I have to show my tax file number though the letter they sent me, because I think I lost that in the space of 4 days.
Can I just write them down on a piece of paper and give that to them?

Best to have that list, makes it easier for them and makes you look organised

Pretty sure all they did was enter my student id on the computer and then stamp my checklist.
They  didnt even look at anything.

I live about 4 hours away from Clayton and I can't go on the enrolment day. I emailed them and asked if I had to attend the enrolment day, and they said "Students need to enrol online by this Friday (27th), and we recommend that students do not leave it until the last day, in case they encounter problems.  If you have enrolled online, you do not need to attend enrolment day if you cannot make it - the main purpose of the day is to collect your student ID card, but you need to do this in person, as they will take your photo.  You can collect your card the next time you are on campus, from Student Services (ground floor of the Campus Centre, building 10 on the Clayton campus) - make sure you take what is required, including offer letter, current photo ID and anything else they request."

Can I do this during O week?

(Also, at the Arts course information session, they said that you don't have to come to your prescribed appointment time, you can come anytime between the 23rd and the 27th, but you may have to wait for longer. This probably only applies to Arts students though...)
