Enrolling in a random subject?

If I were to enrol in a subject which technically I'm not supposed to, would anything bad happen?

Like, if I were to enrol in MTH1035 (Techniques for Modelling - Adv) through WES when I'm enrolled in an MBBS degree, what would happen? Like, I'm interested in maths so I'm actually considering this, has anyone actually ever done something like this?

Don't think that WES will let you do that. Also, you might not be able to complete all your pre-reqs for your next years of studies if you do something like that. However, if you're interested in it, just see your course coordinator and try to work something out.

What about say just jumping in the lecture and listening and doing some of the work, like you won't be credited with the sub, but just say out of interest? Do many lecturers get annoyed if you jump in a lecture that you aren't in?

I don't think they'll even know, but you have a point! :D

But you can't deny that the whole experience of having exams to study for and assignments to do will kind of help you learn it better, I'll just try to ask my co-ordinator when I start uni :)

No one (as far as i know) actually looks at what you enroll in untill you actually graduate. Only then they look through all the units youve done and make sure you satisfy the requirements in the handbook.

I've done some extremely dodgy stuff and no ones brought me up on it yet.

Just make sure it wouldn't majorly screw up your course later down the road, especially in a course that has a fairly rigid structure like medicine.

Hmmm, so you're saying I can just go ahead and enrol in it (it's only for one semester anyways, wouldn't hurt really), I'm just afraid I'll be charged money D: LOL!

If you really enjoy the subject, just turn up to the lectures. Most lecturers are more than happy to let people sit in their class (even ones that they know isn't really enrolled in it), as long as they don't disturb the lecture. Same goes with the tutorials. I got a couple of friends that crashed my MTH2010 tutorials a couple of times last year and they're from Melb Uni -.- The tutor didn't care much and even explained some concepts to them when asked. I'm not too sure if other tutors mind though but if you don't disturb them and the class isn't like full to the max (normally won't be after the 1st week) then I don't see them not letting you into the tutorials.

P.S. By enrolling in a subject in WES, the fees for the subject will be automatically added to your fees statement, and you will be expected to complete the course as a normal student. So if you want to learn but don't want to pay/sit exams/assignments/credit points, don't enrol in the subject.
