Don't know where to ask this - what are term one subjects? It says the last date to withdraw from term 1 units is the 29th, these are different from semester 1 units right?

Just one I believe. It's intensive - you'll be at class like 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, so it's kind of impossible to do 2.

Look here for a guide based on last years subjects http://www.monash.edu.au/enrolments/summer-winter/faculty.html

A lot of the arts/philosophy units are offered off campus for example. You're expected to do about 12-15 hours a week for those particular units.

Most of the summer units aren't all that intensive considering you have the...3 months (i think it is) of holidays to do them over. A regular semester is about 12 weeks, so, i assume its run the same as a regular subject during regular semester.
