I'm just planning a potential timetable, and just wanted to know, regarding things like "tutorials", "practicals", "workshops", and "lectures", which of these are most important (and are compulsory when it comes to attendance)? I've heard that you don't have to attend lectures because apparently you can get them online?? :-\

EDIT: And also, what exactly is done in tutorials, practicals and workshops?  How are they different from the normal lectures??

Any help would be appreciated :) and thanks in advance! :D

From what I heard, most people skip lectures since you can just go on lectopia and download the lectures and self-study.

Most people find tutorials fun since this is I think the session where you work in groups and for some subjects like Introductory Microeconomics you get 10% of you assessment for tutorial participation so better go to those! otherwise fail LOL

tutorials , practicals and workshops are generally compulsory (it's like normal class back in high school, where teacher talks and explains concepts covered in lectures and you hand in your assignments/ work to them or sometimes its done in a drop off box)
lectures are optional depending if they are recorded or not

Totally depends on the subject, but in general, lectures are not compulsory (however, not every subject offers lectopia, so for the ones that don't, you may be missing out on a lot. Higher maths generally does not offer lectopia, for example). Some lectures are, like language lectures usually have attendance taken. Tutorials may or may not be compulsory. I've found that tutorials in commerce are typically compulsory, whereas tutorials in science subjects are not. Practicals/workshops are usually compulsory (the ones of the 2-3 hour kind). You can have 1hour pracs, but they are probably more like tutorials, and in that case, may or may not be compulsory.

For detailed information, you can check the 'assessment' section of any subject in the handbook (online), which will tell you exactly what is compulsory and what is not.

For the subjects that do have lectopia, they upload a recording of the lecture usually after the lecture is finished. Can't remember exactly how fast they do this though...

So I just checked up my subjects participation requirements..And my Arts foundation subject (Language) has lectures on lectopia and nothing is mentioned about lecture attendance in the handbook (only 75% attendance for tutorials and workshops) -- so presuming lecture attendance for this sub isn't compulsory, does this mean I don't have to include the lectures of my arts foundation sub in my timetable?? Since I'll just be recording them from lectopia??

Thanks so much in advance! :)

You should still enroll in the lectures, but you won't have to go to them.
