Internet for UoM College peeps?

Know something about (or have a question relating to) internet at uni? Then please read on and help if possible! :)

I've been accepted in Queens College and I'm aware that they offer internet, but the data allowance isn't great and I imagine the speed isn't that good either.

I probably use around 10-15gb a month of data (watching shows online and such), and was wondering how people have/are planning to source their internet?

Since you wouldn't have a home line to connect to if you're staying at a college, i'm assuming you would have to get mobile broadband. I don't know much about it though...is it slow or expensive?

If people could share their experience/future plans with this type of thing, it would help immensely!
Also if you would like to share the actual data plan you are on and give a mini review, i'm sure lots of people - myself included - would find it helpful (:

Thanks everyone!

What does Queen's charge you to reload your internet allowance?

The speed of the internet at college is fine, unless you're one of those people who can't survive without cable speeds. Every room has an ethernet port for a wired connection, just use that.

I will be in college as well. Hoping the net allocations are decent, too.

The net allocations aren't that big (queen's is 2.4GB monthly and $10 per extra GB, charged at .01/MB)

Get a wireless modem or tether your phone if you want to stream shows. The uni itself will give you 1GB a week, but you can't access their wifi from the colleges if it's too far.
