I am considering doing it next year and was wondering how many marks you can lose and still get over 45?

From what I remember when your that high 1 mark = 1 SS.

So if you lose 1 mark in total u get a 49, 2 marks a 48 e.c.t.

^ He's referring to Exams by the way.

If you lost 5 marks across both Exams you would get a 45 (Possibly lose more and still get a 45, some years if the Exams are easy you might not). Although it is worse to lose marks on one Exam than the other (can't remember which way), this can also affect study score.

You won't really know until after the Exams, where you will get a general guide on how difficult the Exams were and how everyone went.

Throughout the year you can lose many marks on SACs, as long as you are highly ranked within your cohort, preferably 1st.

its important too get 39-40 for exam 1, as 1 marks in exam 1 is like losing 1.5 marks in exam 2.. but yeah usually exam 2, 1 mark = 1 SS for the higher end.. its also important to do well in our sacs and be ranked as high as you can :D:D:D:D

The problem with further is losing even one mark can be lethal because there are so many ppl doing it (25, 000 + accroding to VCAA 2010 statistics) because they think its easy... some are even spesh-worthy... at the same time, many ppl take it on as a bludge... which eliminates competition

Trust me, you have to do really well to get 1st on SACs because I unfortunately was approximately (waiting on a statement of mark+ss) 3 marks or so below top, and I feel that those 3 marks directly lost me Study Score (same as 1 mark on the exam = 1 study score).
shoved my thumb up my grandma's cat's butthole when I was 8..

...seemed funny at the time kk? :(

It depends on the difficulty of your SACs and the strength of your cohort.

If the SACs are really hard and you lose 20 marks and you're still ranked 1st. You can still get a very high grade given your cohort is strong (performs well on the Exams) as they may scale up from 80 -> 100.

I don't think you understood the point I was attempting to make, you can lose as many as you want on SACs yeah, go ahead, but if you're not 1st in terms of ranking, it's going to be a BIG problem if you want 45-50. Why? because if you're not ranked 1st it makes it much more difficult to achieve 100/100 (requires either you to be =1st or have a score close to 100 and get scaled up, which to get scaled up would require difficult SACs and everyone to perform well on the exams). and each mark you lose, that's a study score.
