Yups I got 11 as well.
n(M F) = z+q (from venn diagram)
p=5
x=5
r=5

w+z=12
z=10+w
w+10+w=12
2w=2
w=11

w+z=12
z=11

e=5+5+5+1+11+q+y
e=27+q+y

y+z>z+q
y>q

Therefoe y =1 , q =0

n(M F) = z+q
=11+0
=11

edit: Whoops I forgot to label the circles on the venn diagram. >.<
The top left one should be B
Top right = M
Bottom = F

Ok I've attached a scan of my solution (don't know if it's the best method).

In the line where I wrote , I should have written for the sake of clarity.
However, since:
-
-
AND
-

it is quite clear that , and thus and

The key to this question was making an equation which wasn't 'given' to you in the question; realising that

@aznxD: I was just wondering; was it necessary for you to consider the possibility of an 8th variable (representing an element contained in none of B, M or F)?

Ah yes, I guess you might be right. I overlooked it, but luckily it had no effect on the answer. >.<

Thanks a lot! Though disregarding the other variable ruins it (but it's still good method thanks!)

Where you wrote: "b+d=28-(a+c)-5-5-5" should there be an 'e' in this equation somewhere?
By the way, you've got neat handwriting LOL

Yeah :)

I should have written

^ "I should have written b+d+e=28-(a+c)-5-5-5"

The latex 'e' looks like a 'c' if you don't look carefully xD

Edit: ahaha yeah my writing can sometimes be unmathematician-like
