Ideally the U.S.A., but from all the research I've done the country is saturated with lawyers and it's much more competitive to get a job there then here. I also wouldn't rule out the U.K., but it'd have to be between those two.

You will struggle to find a job as a lawyer in the US regardless of which university you studied at.

Within Australia, alma mater only really matters when you are choosing between a university that is part of the Go8 and one that isn't.

Here is a list of things which are more important than your uni when applying for a legal job:
- your marks
- your extra-curricular activities
- your co-curricular activities
- your hobbies and interests outside of law
- your work experience
- your physical presentation at the interview
- your charisma and general social skills
