Hey guys, planning on doing physics 1 for 1st semester. I would like to know how are the physics 1 lectures, practicals, tutees and problem based learning class. Also what do you do in them?

Roger Rassool's lectures can be very entertaining, thanks to his jokes and exuberant demonstrations - although after people get accustomed to his behaviour, they get irritated by his lack of actual teaching.

Physics demonstrators are very laid back - they pretty much only look at the conclusion when you show them your lab report - and the pracs are easy to get 10/10 in. DO do the pre-labs, and do have a read of the lab book beforehand. Helps you get out faster.

Tutes - generally you get given a problem sheet with questions covering the previous week's material.  If you're unlucky you'll get the old, patronising tutor who spends the entire lecture going through problems on the whiteboard at snails pace and glares at anyone who talks or moves - but most tutes are pretty chilled.

The Finnish word pilkunnussija, which translates literally to “comma fucker,” is someone who risks his social wellbeing to annoyingly and persistently point out punctuation errors.

Completed VCE in 2010 - Now doing BSc at UoM

Anyone skipping Physics 1 and doing straight Physics 2 (life sciences version) in 2nd Sem?
