I bought my book (8th edition) second-hand. Would it be possible for me to ask the bio faculty for an access code, as others might have done in the past?

If yes, then who exactly do I ask, and when?

If not, then I'll have to purchase it from MasteringBiology...

yeah they usually give out a heap of access codes at the start of the year. You won't need to buy one just wait until they announce it at the lectures/labs (heaps of people buy the book second hand).
