Still getting a 50 is Maths Methods CAS

Just had my first Methods SAC today and not very happy. I'm guessing around 85%, which from what I can tell from other people's thoughts is hopefully still around top quartile mark (of around 150 people) - so not great. The SAC was worth 10% of total SAC marks, so 3.4% of total. I'm not entirely sure how the standardisation process works, but I go to pretty academic school. All this said, if I ace (bar a few marks here and there) my remaining SACs and end of year exams, is a 50 still possible? If not, 45+?

I did shit on my SACT, I'll get 50% if I'm lucky. Combination of not doing any work until hours before the SACT + it being damn hard...the practice ones only helped for half of it, the other half had some crazy questions which looked tougher than exam questions...

What in the world is a SACT? Never heard of it before. I think VCAA will take into account whether you had a harder SAC, how did your cohort go? It all depends on them at the end of the day, if your the only one who found it hard and they aced it then you probably didn't prepare enough which means you gotta knuckle down and do good on the other SACs so goodluck man, and keep persevering.

^ haha, that's what my school calls it...school assessed coursework...task maybe?

I was right, I got 50% which is above the average. I think the average was 35%, there were only a few 'high scorers' (~60%). Two people attempted the analysis question - I got one mark for it LOL (made a start but I wouldn't have gotten anything else done if I'd tried to finish it).

Thanks, I look forward to getting my ass kicked again for the Specialist SAC hahaha

Its definitely still possible. Say your sac was out of 30 marks and its only worth 10%, what would happen is your mark out of 30 gets condensed to a mark out of 10 that gets put in the system. (in this case it would be divided by 3 then rounded off)
Point being, dont stress. If it was 10% dont worry too much about it as it was probably just a little skills test. Try and destroy the application and analysis sacs (this is where most people fail)

Don't worry, you'll catch up on the application task (where most people lose their marks). As long as you ace the exams and get a decent SAC ranking, you can get a 50.

Yeah you can, I don't see why you can't get a 50.
If your school is good, you don't have to be ranked first to get a 100/100 for SACs. At my school the top 11 or 12 managed to get 100/100 for methods SACs. However, if you cant a 50, you'll really have to ace the exam. I managed to get 100/100 for SACs, 40/40 for Exam 1 and 78/80 for Exam 2 and I missed out on a 50. Although I do know that a 79/80 on Exam 2 would have gotten me a 50

Supposedly rank 13 at GWSC in 2011 scored a 50 in Methods.
