Hey guys, so basically I'm in a situation here, since I done really badly in Year 11 chem, my foundation is really bad which is the main reason why I'm falling behind in my subject. Can you guys tell me which stuff from Year 11 should I focus on re-learning in order to start to build my foundation again? I have Heineman Units 1 and 2 from last year should I use that, or just go over the first 4-5 chapters of Units 3 and 4 Heineman textbook (gravimetric, volumetric, acids and bases, oxidants and reductants, etc) in order to build up my foundation again.

If you want to do that, I would probably say the most efficient way would be to work out of the year 12 book (since you do need to know the content that's only covered in 3/4 as well), but continually reference back to the relevant sections from the year 11 book (or other resource) when you need to (i.e. go back to the acid/bases stuff when doing that, go back to the redox stuff when doing that, or go back to the organic stuff when you cover that in 3/4 chem etc.).

That probably wouldn't need to be all the time though, the 3/4 books do re-explain quite a bit of stuff.

Why not try jumpstart chem? It's for someone who skips 1/2 or wanna consolidate foundations..
Not sure about the quality of the book but go check it out if you like

I think u can get it from campion bookshops because I bought my bio jumpstart at there too. It basically looks like a summary page of 1/2 stuff(+extension stuff) required for 3/4, then on right hand side of the page you will get questions related to the summary on the left hand side of the page. I got it and it came pretty handy for me since I didn't study 1/2. And all the details required knowing from 1/2 for 3/4 are basically in there.

the most important stuff is obviously learning how to do mol calculations, as well as some stuff about acid/base and redox, like people have said above. I think in unit 4 you start learning about galvanic cells again, so you might want to go over the unit 2 stuff on that...

You should know basic organic chemistry. Actually most of the organic chemistry would be good to know already and year 12 would be just expanding and clarifying, then moving on to reaction pathways.

Yep, know galvanic cells and the electrochemical series. That would also be helpful.

How to do volumetric analysis would also help.

Good luck
