Methods for Bachelor of Sci??

Hey everyone

At the moment I'm really interested in doing a bSc at UoM, especially the 'life sciences' bit
But alot of it requires like Calculus in the first year...and I haven't done Methods for VCE and I'm not the strongest at it....is that going to be a set back?? :/

Thanks

It's a prerequisite so it will be a setback in terms of that. From my experience doing actual life sciences - particular Biology/Physiology subjects - you can get by just fine with a good but not great understanding of maths.

Ah dammit. It was a bit tricky finding pre-reqs (not that I tried terribly hard lol)
So does that mean it'll be harder to get into those courses??

It means that you're automatically disqualified. And I did go through a process of trying to convince them otherwise.

You do have a few options though:
- Take some sort of bridging course over the summer - more information on how to do that from someone else with knowhow.
- Enter another degree, e.g. Arts, and then take a qualifying mathematics subject as breadth, then transfer into Science next semester/year.

Ahh poopy

It sucks when you don't know what you want to do at the start of year 10/11 ><

Thanks for your help!

Yes it does, but there are always ways of changing, though a bit annoying, as above. Not a problem :)

I'd maybe try environments and do transfer from there into bachelor of science
2012-2014. BSc: Neuroscience. University of Melbourne.
2015-2018. Doctor of Optometry. University of Melbourne.

Unlikely to respond to any PMs these days.
