D: Could someone explain the difference (if there is any) for me?  I'm doing the Analysis of Fertiliser for Sulfate at the moment in preparation for a sac.

never fear, chemistry noob is here.............maybe i should change my name :-\
anways i dont really know how to explain i will try my best. :)

a mistake is something that we do in order to muck up the result in the end
e.g accidently putting in too much of a solution, not reading the number to 2 significant figures correctly when doing a titre, etc..

an error is something that mucked up the result in the end but you had nothing to do with it.
e.g  the beakers or flasks may not not have been washed out correctly therefore your solution wont be pure and will lead to a bad reault, there might be a hole in one of the equiptment you were given, etc.....

OVERALL REVIEW!!
a mistake is a humanly thing made by youself during the experiment itself
an error is something that you yourself did not do but in the end it stuffed up your result!!

I HOPE I HELPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND GOOD LUCK, I HOPE WE CAN BOTH GET A HIGH 40'S OR A 50 MARK!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

^Actually, in chemistry we distinguish between those two types of mistakes/errors as such:

Random error - anything that occurs during the experiment (such as incorrect rinsing, incorrect reading of burette, etc) which alter measurements and thus the overall result of a prac.

Systematic error - anything which is wrong/different with the system in which the experiment takes place ie. physical conditions, faulty machinery, a machine that cannot be calibrated, etc.

I think. Maybe ask your teacher about how to distinguish between mistakes and errors because honestly I've never come across a question or prac that used them differently. I'm fairly confident that in chemistry however, you should only use the word error, mistake is a common term used to describe something which is incorrect, rather than that which is done incorrectly.
