Civil/Structural Engineering at UoM 2013

Hi everyone,
As I'm soon to finish year 12 this year, I have started doing research into possible courses that interest me and one of these possible career pathways was Civil or Structural Engineering. Looking through it, the career pathway seems pretty interesting especially when it comes to working on projects, analyzing buildings, working outside etc (I know that sounds pretty generic but I haven't actually talked to anyone as of yet- that's why this post was made!).

However, sine I'm the biggest idiot and didn't go to OpenDay at Melbourne Uni last year, I was wondering there was anyone studying these courses if they have any insights into doing Civil/Structural Engineering. Any insight would be good, such as if doing civil/structural engineering is rewarding, how often do we work in groups with other engineers, how often we stay inside doing paperwork compared to being out on sites, if its an "office job", what kind of work would we be doing, basically any pros and cons is what I'm asking for really  ;D. In addition, I was wondering how difficult it is to get employed after graduating and if it actually is as interesting as it seems.

Thanks guys!

Then you better go this year.  :)  Like even if you are dead drunk.  :P

Open Days are usually on Sundays some time in August.

My brother does civil... I believe job prospects are good and are even improving, there's been a few articles in the paper recently about some of that stuff.
