Quick question!

OK so I've gone on a tangent with my career direction, and have now decided that I will be pursuing a career in property development. I've looked into it and have decided that Bachelor of Environments and then the automatic progression onto the Masters of Property is probably the best way to do it (I want to have the professional qualifications for it, although I do know that some people will develop without any real qualifications).

They will look at my year 12 scores, which satisfy the requirements, and they will also look at my performance in my 3 commerce units. I need a 65-70% average across the 3 units, however I've got no clue how I'm going to get that kind of average in a degree that I absolutely hate and have no motivation to study for... So the question is, how am I going to transfer when it's nearly impossible for me to get a good average in my current course? The requirements for transfers seem almost redundant.. :/

Yeah, they'll look very hard and dissect your ATAR but only glance over your first semester scores.  Your ATAR is weighted a lot more if you've only done one semester of tertiary studies.

You probably are a little bit unlucky that census date just passed, if it hadn't, you could have just pulled out and took a gap year and applied again through VTAC as a year 12 applicant

But anyway, that's quite a big change, going from commerce into property development, but I think your best option is to just keep at it and like Gloamy said, they'll probably look at your ATAR more

Actually, no you'd have to apply as a non year 12 applicant.  But because you took a gap year and because you haven't undertaken any higher study, you'd only be judged by your ATAR.  So in effect, you are still a year 12 student if you want to think of it that way.

Gloamy, huh? I thought that people who took a gap year were still considered Year 12? :S

I thought NONY12 was like, mature age people...etc.

Nah, we're considered non year 12.  And we are mature age people if you think about it lol

Unless VTAC have changed it recently, it was if you are currently studying year 12, then you are current year 12.  Otherwise, non year 12.

So for courses where there are special requirements for NONY12, then those who are applying from a gap year will need to follow those requirements?

Your ATAR is valid for 2 years, if I remember correctly.

so how would you be able to get into the course then without the ATAR? do you have to do a test beforehand?

Yes.  Usually they'll require non year 12's to complete a Personal Information (PI) form.  Some courses from RMIT, for example, require a letter from your employer.  I'm not sure why but they do.  But if you didn't work and just volunteered overseas, I dunno.
