I'm struggling to answer this one myself, as many of Terry's attributes have the ability to display qualities of strength, and at the same time as weaknesses. So that's where it gets tricky for me as I feel I can't express this concept properly.
I'm interested in your responses! Hopefully they will help me and others.
Terrys strength is through his peserverance, for example his peserverance helped him to testify to the waterfront crime commission and his weakness is overcoming and the opressor of the corrupted union boss 'Johnny Friendl'y. His weakness conquering his mentality and confidence of being supressed by a notable hawk group in the Hoboken docks, fighting his way to freedom.
I can write up my text response essay if you want, I've gotten an A+ for it
.
I was thinking about Terry's guilt as one of his strengths and weaknesses.
Weakness - The guilt can be overpowering, causing Terry to become very defensive and as a result, hinder his social interactions
Strength - However it also be a strength of Terry. His guilt of his involvement in Joey's death is a catalyst in instilling doubt towards his loyalty to the mob. This guilt is a strength because it initiates his moral transformation, which provides Terry with clarity and bravery to act against the mob who has oppressed him and the longshoremen.
After typing this up and having more time to think about it, I think I have to watch out how I perceive Terry's attributes. Some perceptions will be stronger than others
